Pixel 9a key features
The brand new Pixel 9a has a lot to live up to, considering how much we appreciated the Pixel 8a, as well as the Pixel 9 and the Pixel 9 Pro XL, which made it into our round-up of the best phones we’ve tested. With a sleek design and four colour options – Porcelain, Obsidian, Iris and a very punchy Peony, this 6.3-inch phone has a bright display with a 120Hz refresh rate for a smooth experience.
This phone should capture high-quality pictures for you, thanks to the dual rear system with 13Mp ultrawide and 48Mp main cameras, as well as a slew of AI photo editing features.
We’re also seeing impressive battery life improvements, with over 30 hours of fun with regular use, and over 100 hours with Extreme Battery Saver. It also doesn’t hurt that it has an upgraded IP68 water and dust resistance, so it can withstand bumps, drops and any water spills.

For many, however, the best part is the inbuilt Gemini AI – a personal assistant that can make your life easier. From clever photo editing capabilities to Circle to Search, from video and screen sharing capabilities to Car Crash Detection and Theft Detection, the Google Pixel 9a has a lot of great features to enjoy.
We’ll be updating this article when the phone is available to buy. And be on the lookout for our full review soon! In the meantime, read our guide to the best mid-range phones to see what the Pixel 9a will be up against.
