Xiaomi’s affordable smartphone brand Poco has confirmed that it will be launching the Poco X8 Pro series next week.
The company has issued an X post stating that the Poco X8 Pro series will be unveiled on 17 March, which is a week today, at around noon UK time.
Poco is promising “A new breakthrough” for the X series, which will apparently “go beyond fast”. There’s also the telltale statement that the new line-up will feature “Speed to the max”.
Add in the small but noteworthy fact that this is being referred to as the “Poco X8 Pro series” rather than the “Poco X8 series”, and it all seems to confirm last month’s rumours of a dual-Pro offering – the Poco X8 Pro and the brand new Poco X8 Pro Max.
Big specs for not much money
Said spec leak claimed that the Poco X8 Pro Max would run on a Dimensity 9500s processor, and would be fronted by a 6.83-inch 1.5K 120Hz OLED display with a 2000 nits maximum brightness.
Perhaps even more eye-catching is the claim of a gigantic 8500mAh battery, together with 100W wired charging.
As for the Poco X8 Pro, we’re expecting a 6.59-inch 1.5K 120Hz OLED display and a Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor, together with a still-pretty-huge 6500mAh battery.
Reports suggest that the Poco X8 Pro could be a rebadged Redmi Turbo 5, while the Poco X8 Pro Max could be the Redmi Turbo 5 Max (pictured above).
We praised last year’s Poco X7 Pro for its grippy design, strong battery life, excellent performance, and its dependable camera – all for an asking price of around only £300.
Presumably, the Pro Max model will bump up the price as well as the specs, and both phones could be among the best mid-range phones of the year, competing with the likes of the Google Pixel 10a, Nothing Phone (4a) series and the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A57.
