The first Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra rumour is here, and it relates to the 2027 flagship phone’s likely camera specification.
You can’t even stroll into a shop and buy the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra yet, but we’ve already heard the first claim – technically claims, plural – about its follow-up.
According to established tipster Digital Chat Station, Samsung is working on a new main camera sensor for an unspecified 2027 flagship smartphone. The HPA will be a 1/1.12-inch sensor, which is larger than the 1.3-inch sensor used in the Galaxy S26 Ultra, and indeed the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra before it.
It’ll also be bolstered by so-called LOFIC ultra-high dynamic range technology, it seems.

We’re hearing slightly different things from reliable Samsung tipster, Ice Universe. Referencing the earlier tip, they specifically mention the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra, and claim that it will use a variant of the HPA called the HP6.
Intriguingly, this particular component is said to be the same size as the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s main sensor (1/1.3-inch), but with a level of performance that matches the aforementioned HPA.
Whatever turns out to be the final component used in the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra early next year, we can draw one early conclusion from these two tips – Samsung is looking to upgrade the camera hardware of its next flagship.
Of course, we need to take such rumours with a pinch of salt this far out from release – not because they’re necessarily false or misleading in any way, but because manufacturing plans can change this far out.
Initial rumours concerning the Samsung Galaxy S26 range suggested that it would support Qi2 charging, which we didn’t end up getting.
